Printable Party Place

Ok, I’ve been working on something behind the scenes….printable parties!  Right now I’ve only got a handful of options up in the store, but I just couldn’t wait to show you all!  So here it is………

One item that many people have emailed me about was this baby shower I threw for a friend with the ‘She’s About to POP’ theme.  You can now find printable items for this theme at the Printable Party Place.

All items in the shop are UNIVERSAL and YOU must personalize them by filling in the blanks.  I do NOT offer personalization of any items.  You simply..PRINT…CUT…PERSONALIZE!

‘Lil Squirt Baby Shower – Elephants

This Elephant themed ‘Lil Squirt Baby Shower was orginally hosted by Ashley from Attention 2 Detail.

——

I have to say this is the first time I’ve heard this theme.  Am I out of the loop on this one?  Well..I just think it’s adorably clever!  I love the idea of the elephant…and not just because I went to the zoo today and watched a baby elephant play in the water!  I think there is just so much to do with this theme and Ashley did a wonderful job of showcasing it’s potential!  Come on…could that cake be any cuter?

Enjoy this baby shower…..

I have been very busy these last few weeks with back to back events, but I am back with the next week or so off! The baby shower brunch that I put together took place on Saturday and turned out adorable! The mother-to-be loves elephants so I took that into consideration while planning this event. It turned out so cute and all the little details worked so well together! Take a look at the pics…you can find the invite that I sent out for this event here.

Diaper Cake

Mocktail Mimosa’s and Hibiscus drinks made with Squirt soda (to go along with the theme), Orange Juice, & Cranberry Juice.

The Create-A-Crepe bar where guests could add ingredients, in a crepe, to make either a breakfast, lunch, or dessert crepe.

The Cake

I titled the various sauces for the crepes “Squirtables” to carry out the theme of the shower.

Sunny-side up Oreo Pops that are in the above picture, tied with yellow curling ribbon.

Onesie & bib decorating station

Finished Onesies & bibs. The guests did such a great job!

Floral centerpiece that I made

Advice cards for the guests to fill out, along with an envelope for guests to print their address on for the mother-to-be to mail their thank you cards! I love the paperclips and the elephant pens toppers I put together!

But my favorite of all would have to be the guest favors! Such cute little elephant cupcake toppers! Adorable!

Overall it was a fabulous shower. And the mother-to-be loved every minute of it! Can’t wait to meet this little bundle of joy!

Pajama Party with Silly Socks

This Silly Socks Pajama Party was originally hosted over at Not Just a Mommy.

——

I love this idea!  Silly socks…..what a fun way to add pure silliness to a party.  I love how the table is set up like a bed…very clever.

Enjoy this silly party…..

Silly Socks Pajama party socksA few weeks ago I had the pleasure of putting together a Silly Socks Pajama Party, inspired by a post at The Party Dress. I don’t get to do girly parties that often and I was allowed free creative license, i.e. she didn’t want to lift a finger.

I have to say my favorite part was the invitations…info was printed on the back asking guests to come in their favorite pajamas and silliest socks. Silly Socks Slumber Party inviteI had this image of everyone taking home cute little bags filled with goodies, and when I spotted these bags at Michael’s, it was kismet, they were perfect, even down to the party’s color palette. I added each girl’s initial and a felt flower to jazz them up.
The tables were decorated like, what else, beds? There were so many great inspirations to pull ideas from; the Hostess, Giggle Dust Parties, Party WishesWe saw these pillows at Dollar Tree and just had to have them, they now reside in the birthday girl’s room. I know, I can’t get away from those tissue poms….and gotta give a shot out to Stem Parties for the cereal jar centerpiece, I totally ‘borrowed’ the idea.
Since we were having breakfast, we had to set up a waffle bar of course, with all the fixings. Dad was a short-order cook that day, making waffles and an amazing strawberry compote, cereal, and juice. Sorry, no food shots, the waffles looked like waffles, and they were snatched up with the quickness.
Thank you Wilton I decorating class for upping my piping skills…

We had two activities making shower gel and of course, silly socks. Thanks to a few tips from reader Cheryl, (messiness, staining, everything for a perfect craft!) I found great shower gel kits. I printed out cute labels to add to the clear bottles and made up little recipe cards so they could mix and match coloring and scents to make it their own. Somehow, I actually HAVE a picture of me at an event…here I am madly funneling shower gel. Don’t you love my Nick & Nora PJ’s? Hubby hates them, said they look like hospital scrubs. Well, I guess when I wear them, we know how our night will end. Plain white socks received personalization with puffy paint. They make great non-slip socks. Word to the wise, puffy paint is messy and permanent pretty much the minute it hits the material. Wish I knew that before they got all over the tablecloths. Oh, and they take a couple of days to dry, so not a craft for the impatient. The girls made some amazing designs, and I swore I took a shot of them all laid out and drying, but I guess not.

Oh, what else did they take home you ask? What else went into their adorable bags besides their shower gel? I set up a little shopping area of cookie jars filled with little bottles of lip gloss, lotion, candy jewelry and rings so the girls could go shopping. Sorry, no pix of that either. Our schedule went off wack and I didn’t get a change to take a shot of it.

I’m always taking shots before the insanity, but I just had to sneak in an after-shot…Not sure why there is that one lone little cupcake there…we started opening presents and I guess it was forgotten? Thanks R for letting me go overboard, I know the girls had a blast!

Pinkalicious 1st Birthday Party

This Pinkalicious Birthday was originally hosted by Little Sooti

——

It’s perfectly pinkalicious!  Soft, subtle, but elegant and fun!

Enjoy the party……

As promised, here are the photo’s from my daughter Zoe’s Pinkalicious 1st Birthday Party. Alot of work went into her party, (lucky girl had not one, but two parties!) & she enjoyed herself so much playing & laughing with all her friends. It was not a huge party, a simple afternoon tea with some family. Next year, I am planning on hiring a small local hall room so that I can have everyone there at the same time. My home was way too small to fit everyone in it & the weather was cold & dark so we could not have it outside. I’m already thinking of her 2nd birthday & what theme I will choose. I will wait & see what she is into at the time. Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed my photo’s and would love to hear some of your
feedback or questions.

Sports Theme 5th Birthday Party

This Sports Birthday Party was originally hosted by A Southern Accent.

——

This party did a great job at bringing all sports together.    Those ball shaped cake pops are totally to die for!!  There are so many eye catching details…like the CAKE!!  The whole thing is vibrant and inviting.  Thanks for listing your party!

Enjoy this sports party…..

Walker is obsessed with just about all sports, so when it came time to pick a theme for his fifth birthday party, any and all sports was the perfect idea!

I rented a local park this past Saturday for Walker’s sports party and it was a beautiful day with perfect temperatures for playing outside! Walker invited all of his friends from school along with his neighborhood buddies and they played baseball, basketball, climbed on the playground and tore open a basketball-shaped pinata that was filled with sports-shaped candy with a golf club!

Guests received orange paper bags filled with their pinata loot along with sports-shaped eggs filled with candy. We served sports drinks and sports-themed water, along with chips, ice cream and yummy cake that I spent several nights last week making. And let’s not forget the fabulous ball-shaped cake-pops made by the wonderful Baker’s Cakes!

I can’t believe my little guy is five!
The time truly does fly by, but it has been a blast and we’ve had a ball!

Firefighter Challenge

Every once in awhile I like to post a readers email and challenge ya’ll to help them come up with ideas for their next big event.  This time DeBran needs help…..she wrote this:

“I love your site and love throwing parties but I am completely stumped on a baby shower I am throwing for a good friend in September. Her hubby is a firefighter and she is doing the nursery accordingly. She loves everything about decorating w/firefighter theme, so I know she’d like a shower based around that theme. I, however, want it to be unpredictable, sophisticated rather than cutesy, and just really beautiful and amazing. haha…no big deal, right?? ;) So I am looking for some great ideas for something along those lines, maybe just some firefighter touches, but not the whole thing? Thanks so much for your time and your fabulous ideas for everything!!”

So, in the comment section please write our your ideas for her.  Put links to possible resources or post a link using inlinkz to a party that she might find helpful for her firefighter baby shower.

I’m going to kick things off by saying that I think using a vintage firefighter motif would make it more sophisticated. And since it’s for a baby shower, the idea of bringing in some vintage toys could be fun as well. Like this vintage firefighter toy truck…

So…gals what are your ideas?  I can’t wait to hear what all you fabulous ladies think of!

Meet the Puppy Party

This Meet the Puppy Party was originally hosted by Posh Pixels.

——

Ok, I will admit that I’m a cat person….and not so much into dogs.  But dog or no dog…this party rocks!  So bright and cheerful and honestly just a cute idea all together!  So many clever ideas to see for this theme.

Enjoy meeting the puppy….

At the end of February, my husband & I had a “Meet the Puppy” to introduce our family & friends to our new adopted puppy, Ozzy. Ozzy is a lab-sheperd mix & was three months old when we got him. We adopted him from a local rescue shelter.

I was so excited for everyone to meet him & wanted everyone to see him while he was still little, so I thought a small, cute party would be perfect.  I had so much fun planning & decorating Ozzy’s party, & couldn’t of pulled it off without the help of my mom, mother-in-law & husband.

My fabulous mom made the cookies, brownies, chocolate covered pretzels & cupcakes. Aren’t they great? She’s an incredible baker & her cakes always taste amazing. I don’t even think she tells me all her cake-secrets, because my cakes never quite comes out as good as hers lol.

What’s a posh party without fabulous Hershey Kiss stickers? It’s kind of my signature thing. I even added them to the bottom of Reese Cups this time. Stickers were designed & handmade by your’s truly ;)

I packaged some of my mom’s amazing sugar cookies & added a custom favor bag topper for the guest to take home with them.

My mom also made these gourmet dog treats for doggie favors. She’s awesome, right? :)

I filled apothecary jars with dog treats & bones to give the party more of a dog feel to it. I labeled the jars & was sure to put “for the puppy” on each one,  just to be sure no one was confused ;)

My mom ALSO made ALL the tissue paper pom-poms. Amazing. My mother-in-law hung all the pom-poms & helped with the decorating.

My husband & mother-in-law made fabulous sub sandwiches, using amazing bread from Panera. The sandwiches were a huge hit & everyone wanted to know where we “ordered” them from.

The guest of honor had tons of fun at his party & was super excited about all his fabulous gifts. He actually hurt his leg really bad playing with my brother-in-law’s dog the day before the party, so none of his doggie-friends were able to come to the party. He was limping really bad & the vet wanted us to try to keep him as inactive as possible until the swelling went down. Otherwise our house would have been full of dogs that day! What do you think of Ozzy’s party?

Thanks to everyone who came & helped!
And a HUGE special thanks to my mom for all her hard work!

Cupcakes..Legos…and Cancer

Hello party blog people! Sorry I have been sort of MIA lately. I appreciate the ladies who stepped in for me last week. I know this is a fun happy party site, but I just wanted to interrupt the party for just a minute and share with you what my attention has been focused on.

Luke, the 9 year old son of my friends Vikki and Steve went to be with the Lord after a nearly 3 year battle against cancer (AML). Most of you who read this blog are moms, so I know that something like this cuts right to the core of your hearts.

For those of you who have actually been coming to this blog since the beginning you have heard me mention Luke before. In fact I even featured some bowling cupcakes from his birthday party as one of my very first posts.

**just trying to slip ‘something partyish’ in here**

The memorial service was beautiful and I was honored to have the privilege of creating the keepsake program for it. The local paper came to the service and wrote a beautiful article about Luke.
Luke Jensen

They filled Vancouver First Church of God’s sanctuary carrying boxed Lego sets by the hundreds, his favorite. They placed them at the foot of the altar next to a smiling portrait of Luke Jensen.

When the music started, the mourners clapped and lifted their voices.

Tuesday was a time to celebrate a 9-year-old whose life was cut short by leukemia. But it was a life marked by faith and courage that made him older than his years.

There were tears. But there was also laughter, as family and friends reminisced about funny Luke memories and showed goofy pictures in a slide show. One photo showed him making silly faces. In another, Luke had chocolate caked on his face.

Celebrating the fond memories “is exactly what Luke would have wanted,” his father, Steve, told the packed sanctuary Tuesday afternoon. “We called him our passionate one.”

The memorial for the Battle Ground boy, who died May 6 after battling cancer since 2007, drew a thousand people to the church’s sanctuary. Nearly 800 more people watched the memorial service on big screens in the adjoining King’s Way Christian School’s gym.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked attendees to bring Legos. The plastic building blocks will be donated to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and Children’s Cancer Association in Luke’s name.

Worship songs led off the ceremony, with powerful faith messages striking a chord with the audience.

“You give and take away. You give and take away. My heart will choose to stay. Blessed be your name,” the crowd sang.

The Rev. Dave Galanter told the audience they could all learn a lot from a boy who “used to be afraid of shots and came to the point he wasn’t afraid of death.”

“Don’t let this moment pass. Ask yourself what the secret of Luke’s life was,” Galanter said. “It was his faith.”

Luke was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2007. He underwent several rounds of treatment at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, including two transplants with bone marrow donated by his siblings, Tori and Jake. Despite all the efforts to cure him, the cancer recurred in March.

Many people throughout the United States and outside the country began following the boy’s journey on his family’s online blog.

‘Everybody’s friend’

Those who spoke at the service — cousins, friends, and a teacher — remembered Luke as “everybody’s best friend,” kind, joyful and mischievous. He loved tickles and hugs. His faith seemed to grow as his cancer progressed.

Luke’s grandfather, Mike White, spoke about his grandson’s signature humor and his genius at video games. White said he remembered one time playing a game with his grandson. He couldn’t get the hang of it.

“I said, ‘I missed video games by a generation,’” White said. “And he said, ‘No, you missed video games by several generations.’”

At the service’s end, mourners sang a Christian song particularly special to Luke. White said the boy would hear it on the radio and lift his arms, telling his mom he was reaching to heaven. Called “I Will Rise,” by contemporary Christian artist Chris Tomlin, the song is about meeting God in a better place. It was fitting.

“When he calls my name, no more sorrow, no more pain,” the crowd sang. “I will rise on eagle’s wings before my God on my knees. I will rise.”

Did you see the Lego part? If anyone is interested in sending legos just email me creativepartygirl@gmail.com and I will give you the address to send them to. Steve and Vikki are donating them to the Children’s Cancer Association and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in honor of Luke. Getting legos for going to some of the hard appointments meant a lot to him. He was a lego lover for sure!!! It’s a really cool way to give back and bring joy to sick children.

If you would like, you can read more about Steve, Vikki, Luke and the rest of the family’s journey on their online journal: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/lukejensen

They are an amazing family and have traveled this journey with total grace. Luke was amazing. He had great courage and strength and will be so dearly missed by ALL who knew him, or came to know him through the journal.

My Little Cupcake Baby Shower

Hi everyone, this is Jess from Party Box Design. As previously mentioned, Shannon is away this week and some of us party gals are filling in! With that being said, I thought I would share with you a super cute baby shower. The inspiration: CUPCAKES! Kelly Cupcake Option 6 copy

Cupcake Shower copy

The “mommy to be” designed just the cutest nursey, so the inspiration for the colors came from baby Amelia’s nursery! I love using nursey colors as the inspiration, it makes it feel all that more special. Cupcake-Tini’s were the signature cocktail and DIY Bake Your Own cupcakes were used as party favors. The mommy to be was baking her own little cupcake, so now the party guests could as well.

Fresh lemons were used in the floral arrangements to add that pop of yellow also used in the babies room. You can find the floral tutorial here!

“Feather Her Nest” Baby Shower

Hello Party People!  As Kelly and Kara already mentioned, Shannon is out for the week, so this is Jess from Polkadots & Pirates posting in her place.  I thought I’d share a couple of the pictures I took at the baby shower I threw for my best friend a couple weekends ago.

Tracie decided to let everyone know the sex of her baby when I sent out the baby shower invitations, so we decided on a little birdie theme so we could use some fun wording on the announcement:

Then we just ran with it from there!  Here are a couple of pics from the day…

Princess Chic Birthday Party

Hi, Everyone!  Shannon asked me to guest blog for her today….so I thought I would show off a darling Princess Chic Birthday Party I recently worked on for a sweet little 3 year old in California.

INVITATION (PN)

The concept for the party was unique: create a “pink” princess party, but with some “rocker chic” details.  Our bubble gum pink and black color palette was born!  The first step was creating a custom invitation that would make the guests “ooh” and “ahh”!  WH Hostess came up with this darling, two-sided invitation – it had the birthday girl’s picture on one side, and polka dots and crystals on the other!  I created a “logo” that was used on the invitation and repeated throughout the party.  After all, it wouldn’t be a princess party without crowns and magic wands, right?!

The decor for the party was whimsical and fun, and the black accents added a modern edge to the traditional “princess” look.  Some of my favorites: welcome signs sticking out of plants at the front door, black urn centerpieces with custom “magic wand” centerpiece sticks, a custom circle banner (complete with Morgan’s crown logo), pink and black polka dot balloons, and…..wait for it……a series of four ribbon chandeliers that hung above the food table.  I love this whimsical, vertical element…..it added a touch of drama to the event!

Here are a few pictures to “wet your whistle”!  For more pictures and information about the activities and the very chic dessert table, head over to The Party Dress.

Rocket Birthday Party

This Retro Rocket Birthday Party was originally hosted by Brittany from Grey Grey Designs.

——

I’m lovin’ this party.  You have to check out the picture where they put a HUGE rocket going up the stairs to make it look like it was blasting off!  What a fantabulous idea!  There are just so many cute details.  Love the rocket pop cookies too!

Enjoy Brittany’s Rocket Party…..

My boo is two!  I can hardly believe it! I thought this party was never going to happen! I had to reschedule it from his actual birthday until two weeks later because we were moving in the midst of all this fun!  The theme was inspired by this cute Michael Miller fabric, “Rocket Rascals” fabric. It had a fun, retro-vibe to it. I got the fabric off Etsy, from BellePepper Couture.
Isn’t he the cutest boy?
His shirt was custom monogrammed from my friend Mollie, who runs an embroidery business out of her house.

I need a big impact item for the front entrance of our house, since it is all stairs, so I went with a rocket blasting up the stairs. This picture does not do the size justice. I cut the shape out of a huge cardboard box and then covered it with butcher paper and painted it . The “flames” are cellophane.

Since it was an afternoon party, I went with a sweets display. We had candy, cookies, cupcakes, etc. To say that I have tons left over is an understatement!
I found the rocket birdhouses on either side of the buffet at Michael’s and hand painted them to match the theme.
The adorable cupcake toppers are from the lovely CiaoBambino on Etsy! She also did the favor tags for me.
A close-up of the tags. They had little astronauts and rockets and said “Greyson’s 2nd Birthday.”
I handmade all the cupcakes and icing from Martha Stewart’s recipe for buttercream and dyed the icing myself. I am a control freak to the nth degree.
The rocket cookies were custom designed and baked for me by Laurie at Whimsy Cookie Co. She is local in Memphis, but she ships!  Check her out, she was awesome to work with and she can do anything!
The marshmallow pops were the world’s easiest thing to make and the kids LOVED them. They had red all over their faces.
I made all the food tags on my printer with paint.net and photo paper. I thought they turned out super cute!  We also had Airheads as well. I got almost all the candy at Wayne’s Candy Company in downtown Memphis. We have one of the best bulk candy stores right in our backyard!
I don’t normally like working with fondant, but I took a chance this time and tried to make his cake myself. I accidentally put flour in the blue fondant instead of cornstartch and it looked crazy!  But, he didn’t care!
The beverage station was a combination of bottled water with custom tags, “Rocket Fuel” (Crystal Light), and soft drinks.
I got this cute dispenser at Target after mine sprung a leak at my last party!
The cute galvanized pail is from the Etsy seller, BrodyandMa. I didn’t even have her do this custom!  She already offered it in the fabric that I loved!
Since we just moved in, we don’t have a lot of stuff on the walls, so I painted this banner to put alongside the food table.
The favors were PopRocks and Milky Ways for the Adults, and Elmo Rocket books ($1 spot at Target) and the candy for the kiddos.
Again, the favor tags were from CiaoBambino.
I got this rocket tent on walmart.com for $20!!!!  Insane deal. This was also his present from us.
My sweet birthday boy!
He did NOT cooperate for presents!
Keepin’ it real.

Mario Bros Birthday Party

This Mario Bros Party was originally hosted by Lucyl from One Fine Day Digiscrapping.
——

WOW!  This party is packed with COLOR!  I’m really blown away by how impactful  it is.  I bet the kids were too!  It’s just so bright, fun and inviting!

Enjoy this Mario Bros Birthday party

The party was so fun, I was exhausted  the next day but I think it was well worth it… We started really early in the morning because I wanted lots of balloons to make the place really nice (1600 balloons actually) this first picture was while getting everything ready.

Some friends that rent party theme decoration for the table had the Mario Bros Theme…. and it was gorgeous, so I went with that for the Cake table… Off course lots of balloons here too, to make it really colorfull…

The Cake was a two cake… fondant covered vanilla and chocolate cake painted to go with the theme, my aunt helped me with it, and she also made the mario jello. Both turned out really nice… here is a close up of the cake…

For this party I wanted a dessert table to resemble the gorgeous ones Amy Atlas does, so I decided to make one like that for the adults to enjoy and a shorter candy table for the children… For the adults dessert table I made mini panacottas, mini tres leches, mini chocolate layer cake, mini lemon pie, oreo balls, chocolate covered pretzel sticks, mini brownies, cream cheese frosting cupcakes…  I made the cupcake displays, tags and popcorn boxes… here are a few pictures

And this was the little children candy table

We had a stone pizza car and a Hot dog car, and a table with appetizers (mini capresa, mini goat cheese sandwich, veggies, etc)… also a couple of waiters serving hot appetizers (tequeños, chicken nuggets, empanadas, meatballs, etc)..

For fun we had a Wii station were 16 children could play at the same time, a huge bouncer and a couple of entertainers that painted little kids faces and played games; and to finish we had a Mario Pinata filled with lots of toys and candy. We made some Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess hats that were given to children as they arrived and entered Mario Magic World….

As the children left each got a goody bag filled with stickers, candy, and lots of stuff… for the boys Mario Bross ans the girls Princess and the Frog..

And here is my birthday Boy

And singing Happy Birthday with Mom & Dad

The End…
