Princess Puppy Party

Adorned in Pink, this birthday girl had her party face on and eagerly awaited her party guest. With her adorable PUPPY PARTY HAT and beautiful tutu, Katie was all set…!!

As each puppy guest arrived, they were given their own Pink Tutu and Party hat with Puppy Ears to wear.
A box of Sweet little Puppies sat in the corner waiting for Puppy Party guest to fill them with stuffing and carry home as a new pet…!!

The girls LOVED stuffing their puppies and adding a special STAR that they kissed, made a wish and tucked deep inside before stitching them up..

Then it was time for a group picture to show off their new pups….!!!

Next the puppies headed over to the Photo Booth to take a few Silly Pictures with Photo Props made by Katie’s mom……SO CUTE…!!!!

Then it was time to EAT…!!! And the Party Table was brimming full of delicious eye candy goodies.. Please enjoy…!!

Homemade Crown Cookies and yummy cupcakes with fun Princess Puppy Toppers….and sweet little bottles wrapped with matching party labels with pink striped paper straws tucked inside waiting for a yummy Party Drink….!!!

Doggie Bone Rice Krispie Treats sprinkled with Pink Sugar….Lollipops and carry home favor boxes placed on this beautiful fun table for guest to enjoy.

What an adorable Birthday Cake….topped off with a giant cupcake and paper party topper…!! This little puppy was ready to blow out her candles.

The most awaited time came for this Lucky Pup who had just turned 5 … Presents …!!!

DIY Centerpiece

Check out this DIY centerpiece made with cupcake liners that was submitted by Creative Jewish Mom. It’s a great project that you can use as a centerpiece for a wedding, tea party, girls night, afternoon luncheon…the list goes on!

Here are all the details from the Creative Jewish Mom:

Gorgeous right? These carnation look-alikes made from cupcake liners are fantastic, even more so in person! And you can whip up a bunch of bouquets in very little time (and for very little cost!) once you get the hang of it. They’re delicate and romantic with a tongue in cheek craftyness. And they would make great centerpieces anytime, but especially for a DIY wedding, a bridal or baby shower, and of course Shavuos!

And I just love the idea of using these floral stamens for the little all white flowers, so sweet…..can’t quite believe I made these. Mind you the idea itself is not mine, but I played around with a variety of techniques before coming up with what I think results in the nicest flowers.

You’ll Need:

cupcake liners in three graduating sizes (small, medium, large) You could certainly try using colored and patterned liners for this project, but there’s something really nice about creating with just the basic creme liners! (And my local store only had creme and blue striped ones……)
floral wire, around 22 gauge (you can use pipe cleaners for a kid’s project, but not for yours!)
red craft paint
floral stamens (even available in Israel at basic craft stores!)

How To:

The large flowers are made from 9 total liners, 3 large, 3 medium and 3 small. the small flowers are made from 8 liners, all size small.
Stack the liners according to size, one inside the next.
With a very large needle, or something else sharp, like possibly a toothpick, poke a hole at the edge of the small liner, such that the hole goes all the way through all the layers. Make sure to keep holding your liners together after you poke the hole!
Thread a piece of floral wire through the first hole, and poke a second hole opposite the first on the inside bottom edge of the liner. the point is that the holes should be about 1 inch apart.
Thread your floral wire down through the second hole, and if you will be using floral stamens, insert them now under the wire. (You could also try using tiny piece of ribbon in place of the stamens!)
Pull the wire as tightly as possible without tearing the paper and fold the whole flower into a half moon shape.
Now, to shape your flower you’ll have to play around a bit, separating the layers from one another while folding them up and towards the center. You may also want to crumple the paper a bit or fold the edges back as you rotate the flower.
To add subtle colored detail to your flower, dip a dense sponge in a small amount of paint and dab the edges. Alternatively you can use water color paint to add color to the whole flower, just go light on the paint!
I just can’t stop gushing about this project and I’ve got at least another two projects in the works using cupcake liners (one for kids, and more flowers) so stay tuned!

Ooh La La – French Theme

Ok, I’m officially in love with this party! It’s so unique. I love all the french touches that she obviously brought from the inside of her home to the outside. It’s all just so lovely!

This past weekend I hosted a birthday party for my husband. We went with a French Happy Hour theme as sort of a nod to the time we spent in France, BC(before children). For the decor, I used what I already had, and was so pleased with the result. Hope you like it! (click on pics to view larger)

Guests were greeted with French wine and champagne! I set up this area with a pvc pipe frame system to hold old frames, a ‘C’ for Chuck, and curtain panels to frame it all out. I brought out an old chest to act as a bar, and iced the champagne in a garden urn.

A little taste of France: Goat cheese toasts w/caramelized onions, Brie tarts with strawberry preserves, mini quiches, and “french” fries served in paper cones with a fleur de lis embelishment. An old suit case was used to serve the toasts out of, and pictures from our trip created a ‘banner’ above.

The dessert table served up fruit tartlets, palmiers, croquembouche, and these divine macarons from Petites Bouchees. I chose the chocolate-espresso buttercream, and the hazelnut-caramel. Delicious! If you are in need of macarons, check out Petite Bouchees.

I used drawers to display the macarons, an urn for height and to hold the palmiers, and a frame fitted with ‘post card’ scrapbook paper to hold the fruit tarts. Other decorative elements were a globe, some French books I picked up in Paris, and a candeliere hanging above.

Take home favors consisted of various monogrammed items: note pads, coaster sets, and note cards. The bags were wrapped with coordinating paper used throughout the party, and a monogram tag was attached with fleur de lis wax seal. Another vintage suit case was used to help display the favors.

Pajama Party with Silly Socks

I love this idea! Silly socks…..what a fun way to add pure silliness to a party. I love how the table is set up like a bed…very clever.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of putting together a Silly Socks Pajama Party, inspired by a post at The Party Dress. I don’t get to do girly parties that often and I was allowed free creative license, i.e. she didn’t want to lift a finger.

I have to say my favorite part was the invitations…info was printed on the back asking guests to come in their favorite pajamas and silliest socks. I had this image of everyone taking home cute little bags filled with goodies, and when I spotted these bags at Michael’s, it was kismet, they were perfect, even down to the party’s color palette. I added each girl’s initial and a felt flower to jazz them up.
The tables were decorated like, what else, beds? There were so many great inspirations to pull ideas from; the Hostess, Giggle Dust Parties, Party Wishes…We saw these pillows at Dollar Tree and just had to have them, they now reside in the birthday girl’s room. I know, I can’t get away from those tissue poms….and gotta give a shot out to Stem Parties for the cereal jar centerpiece, I totally ‘borrowed’ the idea.
Since we were having breakfast, we had to set up a waffle bar of course, with all the fixings. Dad was a short-order cook that day, making waffles and an amazing strawberry compote, cereal, and juice. Sorry, no food shots, the waffles looked like waffles, and they were snatched up with the quickness.

We had two activities making shower gel and of course, silly socks. Thanks to a few tips from reader Cheryl, (messiness, staining, everything for a perfect craft!) I found great shower gel kits. I printed out cute labels to add to the clear bottles and made up little recipe cards so they could mix and match coloring and scents to make it their own. Somehow, I actually HAVE a picture of me at an event…here I am madly funneling shower gel. Don’t you love my Nick & Nora PJ’s? Hubby hates them, said they look like hospital scrubs. Well, I guess when I wear them, we know how our night will end. Plain white socks received personalization with puffy paint. They make great non-slip socks. Word to the wise, puffy paint is messy and permanent pretty much the minute it hits the material. Wish I knew that before they got all over the tablecloths. Oh, and they take a couple of days to dry, so not a craft for the impatient. The girls made some amazing designs, and I swore I took a shot of them all laid out and drying, but I guess not.

Oh, what else did they take home you ask? What else went into their adorable bags besides their shower gel? I set up a little shopping area of cookie jars filled with little bottles of lip gloss, lotion, candy jewelry and rings so the girls could go shopping. Sorry, no pix of that either. Our schedule went off wack and I didn’t get a change to take a shot of it.

I’m always taking shots before the insanity, but I just had to sneak in an after-shot…Not sure why there is that one lone little cupcake there…we started opening presents and I guess it was forgotten? Thanks R for letting me go overboard, I know the girls had a blast!

Mario Bros Birthday Party

WOW! This party is packed with COLOR! I’m really blown away by how impactful it is. I bet the kids were too! It’s just so bright, fun and inviting!

The party was so fun, I was exhausted the next day but I think it was well worth it… We started really early in the morning because I wanted lots of balloons to make the place really nice (1600 balloons actually) this first picture was while getting everything ready.

Some friends that rent party theme decoration for the table had the Mario Bros Theme…. and it was gorgeous, so I went with that for the Cake table… Off course lots of balloons here too, to make it really colorfull…

The Cake was a two cake… fondant covered vanilla and chocolate cake painted to go with the theme, my aunt helped me with it, and she also made the mario jello. Both turned out really nice… here is a close up of the cake…

For this party I wanted a dessert table to resemble the gorgeous ones Amy Atlas does, so I decided to make one like that for the adults to enjoy and a shorter candy table for the children… For the adults dessert table I made mini panacottas, mini tres leches, mini chocolate layer cake, mini lemon pie, oreo balls, chocolate covered pretzel sticks, mini brownies, cream cheese frosting cupcakes… I made the cupcake displays, tags and popcorn boxes… here are a few pictures

We had a stone pizza car and a Hot dog car, and a table with appetizers (mini capresa, mini goat cheese sandwich, veggies, etc)… also a couple of waiters serving hot appetizers (tequeños, chicken nuggets, empanadas, meatballs, etc)..

For fun we had a Wii station were 16 children could play at the same time, a huge bouncer and a couple of entertainers that painted little kids faces and played games; and to finish we had a Mario Pinata filled with lots of toys and candy. We made some Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess hats that were given to children as they arrived and entered Mario Magic World….

As the children left each got a goody bag filled with stickers, candy, and lots of stuff… for the boys Mario Bross ans the girls Princess and the Frog..

Kim found these amazing fabric bags filled with gold chocolates. We dumped the chocolates… well we saved them for guests to eat later of course… and filled them with favours!

Kim made this cool tree/branch thing by spray painting a tree branch black and gluing on small squares of tissue paper for flowers.

We found some really great party gear while ‘treasure hunting’ one day… including the cake stand seen in the background!

Kim created the box using a cricut die cut, ribbon, stamps and letter beads.
