Princess Puppy Party

Adorned in Pink, this birthday girl had her party face on and eagerly awaited her party guest. With her adorable PUPPY PARTY HAT and beautiful tutu, Katie was all set…!!

As each puppy guest arrived, they were given their own Pink Tutu and Party hat with Puppy Ears to wear.
A box of Sweet little Puppies sat in the corner waiting for Puppy Party guest to fill them with stuffing and carry home as a new pet…!!

The girls LOVED stuffing their puppies and adding a special STAR that they kissed, made a wish and tucked deep inside before stitching them up..

Then it was time for a group picture to show off their new pups….!!!

Next the puppies headed over to the Photo Booth to take a few Silly Pictures with Photo Props made by Katie’s mom……SO CUTE…!!!!

Then it was time to EAT…!!! And the Party Table was brimming full of delicious eye candy goodies.. Please enjoy…!!

Homemade Crown Cookies and yummy cupcakes with fun Princess Puppy Toppers….and sweet little bottles wrapped with matching party labels with pink striped paper straws tucked inside waiting for a yummy Party Drink….!!!

Doggie Bone Rice Krispie Treats sprinkled with Pink Sugar….Lollipops and carry home favor boxes placed on this beautiful fun table for guest to enjoy.

What an adorable Birthday Cake….topped off with a giant cupcake and paper party topper…!! This little puppy was ready to blow out her candles.

The most awaited time came for this Lucky Pup who had just turned 5 … Presents …!!!

And the expression here as she opened this gift shows her excitement as she opened each gift…WOW….I think she loved it…!!

Little Mermaid Birthday Party

How precious and sweet is this adorable Little Mermaid Birthday Girl….!!! This feature is long but just couldn’t resist all the cute pictures and party ideas… ENJOY….!!!

She’s all smiles and fits right in with her beautiful PARTY TABLE… Love her dress and party hat.

After the food, it was time to Go Fishing….Katie and here friends grabbed their buckets and poles. Love the Fishing Game that this mom made…

This is the fishing game she made, the girls had a blast could not get enough of this game. It was so easy to make out cardboard and wrapping paper.

The girls caught different types of fish, jewels and bubbles, They got buckets with their name to put their catch in

Next up was the Bean Bean Bag Toss game, I made this out of ply board (with Hubbys help) and covered it with wrapping paper. Simple but fun game, the kids

Under the Sea Birthday Adventure

It’s almost August, it’s HOT… and what better way to celebrate a Summer birthday- then an Under the Sea Adventure! This theme is filled with bright- fun colors, and endless activities! All centered around fun in the sun!

Colors/Patterns: Blue, Orange, Green, White, Polka Dots and Stripes.
Center Pieces: Tall Cylinder Vases with Goldfish, Sand and Seaweed.
Party Favors: Take Home Goldfish in Glass Bowls with Signature Tags, allowing the children to name their fish! You may also want to attach a baggie filled with fish food and a small net.

A sea of cupcakes galore, shades of blue for sure! With cute toppers, wishing the birthday boy a happy one… which wouldn’t be complete without an awesome banner hanging over the dessert table!

Oh a signature cocktail you say… for sure! Would you care for a fabulous glass of Under the Sea Sangria?!?

Activties: So many fun outdoor activities… a pool filled with pretend fish, and poles for each child. Place magents on the fish and the pole so that the children may go “fishing”! Sand castle building contest, water balloons, a bubble machine, an octopus sprinkler… honestly I could go on and on!

Pajama Party with Silly Socks

I love this idea! Silly socks…..what a fun way to add pure silliness to a party. I love how the table is set up like a bed…very clever.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of putting together a Silly Socks Pajama Party, inspired by a post at The Party Dress. I don’t get to do girly parties that often and I was allowed free creative license, i.e. she didn’t want to lift a finger.

I have to say my favorite part was the invitations…info was printed on the back asking guests to come in their favorite pajamas and silliest socks. I had this image of everyone taking home cute little bags filled with goodies, and when I spotted these bags at Michael’s, it was kismet, they were perfect, even down to the party’s color palette. I added each girl’s initial and a felt flower to jazz them up.
The tables were decorated like, what else, beds? There were so many great inspirations to pull ideas from; the Hostess, Giggle Dust Parties, Party Wishes…We saw these pillows at Dollar Tree and just had to have them, they now reside in the birthday girl’s room. I know, I can’t get away from those tissue poms….and gotta give a shot out to Stem Parties for the cereal jar centerpiece, I totally ‘borrowed’ the idea.
Since we were having breakfast, we had to set up a waffle bar of course, with all the fixings. Dad was a short-order cook that day, making waffles and an amazing strawberry compote, cereal, and juice. Sorry, no food shots, the waffles looked like waffles, and they were snatched up with the quickness.

We had two activities making shower gel and of course, silly socks. Thanks to a few tips from reader Cheryl, (messiness, staining, everything for a perfect craft!) I found great shower gel kits. I printed out cute labels to add to the clear bottles and made up little recipe cards so they could mix and match coloring and scents to make it their own. Somehow, I actually HAVE a picture of me at an event…here I am madly funneling shower gel. Don’t you love my Nick & Nora PJ’s? Hubby hates them, said they look like hospital scrubs. Well, I guess when I wear them, we know how our night will end. Plain white socks received personalization with puffy paint. They make great non-slip socks. Word to the wise, puffy paint is messy and permanent pretty much the minute it hits the material. Wish I knew that before they got all over the tablecloths. Oh, and they take a couple of days to dry, so not a craft for the impatient. The girls made some amazing designs, and I swore I took a shot of them all laid out and drying, but I guess not.

Oh, what else did they take home you ask? What else went into their adorable bags besides their shower gel? I set up a little shopping area of cookie jars filled with little bottles of lip gloss, lotion, candy jewelry and rings so the girls could go shopping. Sorry, no pix of that either. Our schedule went off wack and I didn’t get a change to take a shot of it.

I’m always taking shots before the insanity, but I just had to sneak in an after-shot…Not sure why there is that one lone little cupcake there…we started opening presents and I guess it was forgotten? Thanks R for letting me go overboard, I know the girls had a blast!

Rocket Birthday Party

I’m lovin’ this party. You have to check out the picture where they put a HUGE rocket going up the stairs to make it look like it was blasting off! What a fantabulous idea! There are just so many cute details. Love the rocket pop cookies too!

My boo is two! I can hardly believe it! I thought this party was never going to happen! I had to reschedule it from his actual birthday until two weeks later because we were moving in the midst of all this fun! The theme was inspired by this cute Michael Miller fabric, “Rocket Rascals” fabric. It had a fun, retro-vibe to it. I got the fabric off Etsy, from BellePepper Couture.

His shirt was custom monogrammed from my friend Mollie, who runs an embroidery business out of her house.

I need a big impact item for the front entrance of our house, since it is all stairs, so I went with a rocket blasting up the stairs. This picture does not do the size justice. I cut the shape out of a huge cardboard box and then covered it with butcher paper and painted it . The “flames” are cellophane.

Since it was an afternoon party, I went with a sweets display. We had candy, cookies, cupcakes, etc. To say that I have tons left over is an understatement!

I found the rocket birdhouses on either side of the buffet at Michael’s and hand painted them to match the theme.

The adorable cupcake toppers are from the lovely CiaoBambino on Etsy! She also did the favor tags for me.

I handmade all the cupcakes and icing from Martha Stewart’s recipe for buttercream and dyed the icing myself. I am a control freak to the nth degree.

The rocket cookies were custom designed and baked for me by Laurie at Whimsy Cookie Co. She is local in Memphis, but she ships! Check her out, she was awesome to work with and she can do anything!

The marshmallow pops were the world’s easiest thing to make and the kids LOVED them. They had red all over their faces.

I made all the food tags on my printer with paint.net and photo paper. I thought they turned out super cute! We also had Airheads as well. I got almost all the candy at Wayne’s Candy Company in downtown Memphis. We have one of the best bulk candy stores right in our backyard!

I don’t normally like working with fondant, but I took a chance this time and tried to make his cake myself. I accidentally put flour in the blue fondant instead of cornstartch and it looked crazy! But, he didn’t care!

The beverage station was a combination of bottled water with custom tags, “Rocket Fuel” (Crystal Light), and soft drinks.

I got this cute dispenser at Target after mine sprung a leak at my last party!

The cute galvanized pail is from the Etsy seller, BrodyandMa. I didn’t even have her do this custom! She already offered it in the fabric that I loved!

Since we just moved in, we don’t have a lot of stuff on the walls, so I painted this banner to put alongside the food table.

The favors were PopRocks and Milky Ways for the Adults, and Elmo Rocket books ($1 spot at Target) and the candy for the kiddos.

Again, the favor tags were from CiaoBambino.

I got this rocket tent on walmart.com for $20!!!! Insane deal. This was also his present from us.

Antique Pram Baby Shower

Happy Friday! The Swanky Chicks are back and we have an adorable baby shower post for you today. A Portland mommy-to-be had her hostesses contact us to design her a baby shower based around her pram that she purchased in a local antique shop. We jumped at the opportunity and had a great time working on this project. The theme was based around the antique pram and our fonts and designs came from old apothecary labels.

We created answer sheets for the baby shower games that incorporated the antique pram image and great antique fonts. The ladies had a ton of fun with these games. They played “who’s that baby?” and the mommy-to-be snuck in a baby picture of dad that had everyone giggling. The hostess also had everyone write a short story for mom-to-be using a list of words, some baby themed and some random, like rattle and tow truck. We heard this one got a ton of laughs.

The favors were a candle tied in cellophane bags with an adorable poem written by the shower hostess! She is so creative!

Here’s a candle to light when you hear us say,

…Sweet “Baby Dolan” is NOW on the way!

Let it serve as a token of thanks in anticipation,

As we join in together with hopeful celebration!

Please keep it as remembrance to PRAY,

For a safe delivery this coming May!

And along with baby we’ll give deepest appreciation

For helping us out of such a “tight” situation!

The shower was “Anticipating Baby” so the candle tins said “Anticipating Baby” with her due date. We just adore the antique pram and it was wonderful inspiration.

We had a wonderful time working with these ladies and they did an amazing job bringing our designs to life!

All in Due Time Couples Shower

Hey there! Eleanor from Pink Peppermint Paper here. Many thanks to Shannon for inviting me to do a guest post! I’ve done quite a few childrens’ parties recently, so I thought I’d share something a bit different. Hope you enjoy this coed baby shower some friends and I recently threw!

Our friends are expecting a little girl, so I was on the hunt for something feminine but not so much so that the guys would feel squirmy. I decided that using mod printed papers and due date-themed elements would be a nice middle ground. If my math is right, the mom- and dad-to-be will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary this summer, and since this is their first baby I thought “All in Due Time” was a theme that worked well.

Here’s the shower invitation!

I found a great grouping of coordinating scrapbook papers. I liked them because of their use of pink and green and the concentric circles–both themes in the baby’s nursery bedding. Plus, there was a number element that worked well with the due date theme. They mailed in a strawberry colored envelope lined with numbers.

When guests arrived, they were greeted with this paper loop wreath also made from patterned papers.

In the foyer was the perfect place to sort of introduce our theme with some due date numbers. I painted them and distressed them a bit. I then hot glued them to some inexpensive craft boxes, which were covered with more decorative paper.

I also found this small craft figure, which I made preggars with half an Easter egg cut the long way. I dressed her in cut paper to match the numbers.

And here’s the full affect for the entry way complete with those beautiful pink flowering branches. I love Spring!

Here are the flowers. They complimented the color scheme perfectly!

I am always amazed at how easy it is to find even the unlikeliest of things in the colors you need. I found this mod polka dot fabric as well as the more floral one shown above. Then, I came across napkins that echoed both the color scheme and the fabric.

We served chicken kabobs, roast beef on rolls, spinach and artichoke dip, fruit, bruschetta, and a yummy sundried pesto roasted red pepper cheese cake with crackers. Tasty!

In keeping with our theme, we sent guests home with these pocket calendar favors.

I bought inexpensive vinyl-covered calendars and used patterned papers by trimming them to size and slipping them into the vinyl to cover the original. They were tied with a bow and had a tag reading “All in Due Time” and including the baby’s due date. Their big day was also marked inside! I borrowed these little suitcases of my daughter’s, which strangely enough, matched perfectly. Plus, I thought it was a subtle nod to both the idea of having a bag packed for the hospital and to hitting the road when the fun ended.

We had an evening of fun reconnecting with old college friends, and I think it was a really special night for the Mom- and Dad-to-Be. If you want to see more of the party, check it out the details on my blog. Thanks!

Summer Surf Party…oh and a Water WAR!

Hello Party Girls! It’s me, Shannon your Creative Party Place Hostess. Today I’m actually sharing one of my own parties. It was my son’s birthday party at the end of the summer. I went with a Summer Surf Party Theme. It ended up being too cold to swim. So I luckily found an amazing deal on large water guns…and I decided to expand my surf themed party into an all out water war. With 10 little boys…who could go wrong!! And thanks to my hubby’s smart thinking of adding a hot water to the outside hose bib…it was totally bearable. I even joined in and got COMPLETELY soaked (sorry no pics of that!)

Pinwheel Inspired Birthday Party

These colors are yummy! You see them and instantly think “sweet!” If that cake tasted as sweet as it looked then it must have been some darn good cake that those Haute Apple Pie girls cooked up!

Our darling daughter, Isla, turned one last week and I knew I wanted to do something special for her first birthday party. Our neighbor has pinwheels in his yard and she loves to watch them spin around, so I decided a pinwheel themed birthday party would be perfect for our little girl!

The birthday girl wore a onesie created by sticheroos and a pinwheel headband from Kylala Boutique who also made her adorable birthday hat.

I found these simply stated and adorable invitations from Jack and Izzy which set the tone of the party

As party gifts, guest received small pink bags filled with candy. The bags were adorned with a small “thank you” tag created by fellow HAP blogger, Katie, and fastened with a mini clothes pin.

Guests were greeted by a Happy Birthday banner when they entered the house. Pinwheels were also put on the front door and scattered throughout the house in glass vases filled with orange Jelly Bellies. The banner and pinwheels were created by the amazing shana from crossroads cottage.

For lunch we snacked on sun dried tomato pasta salad, spinach salad with strawberries, blueberries and walnuts, sliced apples with homemade caramel dip, tea sandwiches, hot dogs and brats. The food was labeled with lovely orange name tags and pink handmade pinwheels.

Guests sipped peach slush, pink lemonade and soda from pink cups decorated with a pink pinwheel sticker from Jack and Izzy.

For dessert we had a 2 tiered pink cake that was created by Aly from Sweetness by Alice. It not only looked amazing, but tasted out of this world! The bottom layer was vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling and the top layer was lemon cake with lemon and raspberry filling. Isla also had her very own cake to dig into!

All in all, Isla’s first birthday party was a success! She played, opened lots of wonderful gifts, ate tons of cake and then took a long nap!

Let’s face it…Tiny things are just CUTE! Tiny invitations, tiny hamburgers, tiny hotdogs…..this party was tiny…but it was CUTE in a BIG WAY! The tiny cupcakes and the tiny waterbottles just added to the cuteness! I’m totally lovin’ this idea! It’s making the wheels spin in my head for the baby shower I’m throwing in July!

Here are the details of Elle’s Tiny Two party including a free PDF download of some of the elements of the party (at the end of the post). This theme worked great for a 2-year-old birthday party, but could be used for so many other occasions.

[invitations]

I wanted “tiny” invitations so I designed the basic size and then created a coordinating envelope template. I cut the envelopes using my Silhouette (Silhouette Users: download the envelope template and mini party hat template from the Silhouette download site soon). I also embellished the invites with glossy accents to give them some texture and dimension – everything looks better with glossy accents or diamond glaze!

I hung chinese lanterns with fishing wire above the dessert area. I couldn’t find the exact color of teal blue I wanted so I purchased a white lantern and painted it with the food coloring I used for the frosting. It worked great and was simple…just add food coloring to some water in a bowl and paint with a foam brush.

I also printed out several sheets of the patterned paper I designed for the invitation envelopes in both a teal and pink color to use on a variety of decor elements including:

- wrapping around the mini water bottles (I wanted to add a white circle label printed with 2, but ran out of time)

- wrapping around the condiment bottles

- creating food place cards

- embellishing Elle’s wrapped presents

I think the food was a key element in making the party feel truly tiny. We had tiny hamburgers, tiny hot dogs and tiny veggies along with tiny cupcakes and ice cream scoops. Elle also had a tiny-sized cake. My friend Heather baked all of the tiny rolls for the hamburgers and hot dogs (thanks Heather!). She also found the tiny hot dogs at a local Albertsons (Oscar Meyer brand), and I made small 2″ hamburger patties. For the veggies, I used the small baby carrots (some are bigger than others – get the small snack size packs), cut up tiny celery sticks, and cut up small peppers from Costco and lucked out with mini cucumbers from Costco.

I also made the cupcakes with 2″ paper souffle cups and placed the scoop of ice cream in a 3.25 oz. paper souffle cup with the wooden spoon inserted into the center. For Elle’s cake and the cupcakes I embellished them with royal icing shapes and letters….just pipe the royal icing shapes onto a piece of parchment and let harden over night. I loved the small 2 that adorned the top of each cupcake.

[games and favors]

We had about 40 people at the party – 20 adults and 20 kids so I was a little nervous about keeping the kids entertained (ranging in age from 2 to 14). Luckily the weather was nice so the kids could go outside but I also had a variety of tiny games set out including a small kids table covered in freezer paper with crayons, markers and small animal toys to play with and mini games I found at the party store (mini bowling sets, mini uno cards, mini pool).

For the favors, I made tiny notepads of games for two – hangman, tic-tac-toe and the dot game. I put the notepads in a clear bag with a tiny marker and filled with fun-size candy.

Overall, I think the party was a success. Here is a PDF filled with some of the elements I used to make it happen including:
