What a perfectly sweet shower idea for the summer!  The colors are fun and fresh and using natural elements like lemons is such an inexpensive way to brighten up your decor!

I recently had the privilege  of helping put together a shower for my cousin Jeff’s fiance Kate. We were thrilled to host a shower in the summer months and decided to keep the day bright with a summertime lemonade themed shower. With lemons everywhere, from the tables, to the favors, to the drinks, we all enjoyed entering into summer with a wedding celebration.

The invitations, designed by myself, started off the lemon theme. The invites were mailed in a soft yellow envelope and addressed by the fun penmanship of my sister Lindsay.

Each table centerpiece used a clear glass vessel, including a pitcher, cake plate, bucket and bowl. Lemons, purchased in bulk from CostCo, were placed in each centerpiece alongside small bunches of Sweet William flowers, from a local farmer’s market, in clear glass cruets.

Each place setting held a simple lemon with a stick pin flag name tag.

The ladies sipped on lemon drop martinis and vodka lemonades.

Names were drawn periodically throughout the shower, with the winners picking from a variety of lemon themed door prizes.

Each guest was given a mason jar of ingredients along with a recipe to make lemonade cookies. A fresh batch of the lemonade cookies was placed on a small lemon plate for tasting before taking the jars home.

To make the Lemonade Cookie jars layer the following ingredients into a clean, dry, quart-sized mason jar:

So what is an around the clock bridal shower? The shower focuses on the different “times” in a bride and grooms lives together and creates categories for gift-giving.  This can be done in one of two ways , each guest is assigned an hour of the day  or a time like breakfast time or party time.   Your guests will have a ton of fun choosing gifts for their assigned time and the bride will receive everything from a waffle maker to lingerie.

Here is a simple poem for the invitations to explain the shower to your guests.

We’re having a party! And won’t it be fun
Many cheers and best wishes before we are done
A shower for (bride’s name), our esteemed bride-to-be

“The times of our life” is the theme for this day
To help the new couple get on their way
Breakfast at home, lunch in the park
Playtime and fun time from morning til dark

Filling each second, each minute, each hour
That is our challenge for this bridal shower

YOUR TIME OF DAY IS_______________

You can incorporate this theme in everything from the invitations to the food.  Serve food buffet style from a variety of meal times around the clock. Incorporate clocks and timers into the decor, and give kitchen timers or calendars as favors.

This shower theme would also work really well for a baby shower, assign times like bed time and bath time.

My brother is getting married in October and my mom decided to give the happy couple a shower. I of course was totally all over it and asked if I could give her some ideas. She wanted the party to be a casual bar-be-que. So, I came up with a daisy, red gingham and lemon decor’ theme. I had so much fun making the invitations, all of the banners, bride and groom nametags and setting up the table centerpieces and other decor’ around the house.

I got the party favors idea from the hwtm website. Instead of using the jars as drinking glasses we filled them with lemon slice candies and put raffia ribbon around them and a tag with the couple’s names and date of the wedding. So cute! And the party was a huge success.

So this is what I’ve been doing for the last few months and why I haven’t blogged about resolutions or life’s lessons or anything other than really important info on Finley!  It has been so much fun working on this shower and though it was stressful at times, it was totally worth it… especially since with Beth’s wedding just a couple weeks before Finley’s 1st birthday, I’ve decided to keep the same color scheme for Finley’s party and use a lot of the same aspects except of course, for the shoe boxes… though I think I may have to use those for her Sweet 16 party.  I think it would be pretty cute theme for her then!

I didn’t have enough hanging lanterns so I got this idea from the Martha Stewart’s website and made these pom poms for the center of the tents. The favors. These were part of the table scape but the guest also got to take them home as favors. I saw this idea one time at a dentist office of all places and decided to make them. They are pens covered in floral tape and put in a pot of black beans (dirt). I also made little favor tags that said “Christi’s Bridal Shower.”

I made the cake to be a bride. I really liked the way it turned out. I know I know the bride is blonde but that didn’t even cross my mind when I bought her. Oh well. She’s still a bride right?

There was a lot of yummy food at the brunch. Everyone loved scarfing it down.

I made this banner for Christi and Barry. I liked the way it turned out too.

Yummy food. Notice the juices even had the color scheme going on. Can you tell Christi’s wedding colors are pink and orange.We played fun games at the shower. Including Bridal Bingo and The Newlywed Game. For the Newlywed game I video taped and interviewed Barry. The questions were all about Christi. It was definitely the favorite game.

All and all it was good times. I am so blessed to have a friend like Christi and seeing her as happy as she is makes me so excited for her. I such a blast doing this party but most importantly I wanted to make this special for her and I’m glad it was. She deserves it!
