I recently found your blog and I am just loving it! I was wondering if you had an ideas for a baby shower I am wanting to throw my little sister. She is having a baby boy in May and I was thinking about doing an April Showers brings May Flowers…and Babies type theme… maybe with raindrops, umbrellas, etc.
At the moment this is all I have… the idea. I am trying to think of some cute maybe even unique types of things to do for her shower to make it special for her. She will be a single mommy and this is kind of a special situation- I just want to make it a happy and memorable day for her to show her how much I love her and to let her know how excited we all are!

Tissue paper flowers, hanging from the ceiling, are a great way to add colour inexpensively! They fit with your ‘May flowers’ theme too! I created them by cutting out 6″ pieces of tissue, gathering one at a time in the centre and hot glue gunning to a 1 1/2″ styrofoam ball. I used them for my recent Valentines Party. Mommabeepartyz.blogspot.com had a boy baby shower not long ago that was boy/bug themed. She spray painted a branch white then created paper rossettes that she hot glue gunned to the branch. She made paper flowers with chocolates in the centre for party favours too! It was fabulous! HTH

I really like your theme, and the tissue poms are certainly a fabulous idea! You can also buy cheap plastic gem necklaces and string them from the umbrellas… so they would be like the rain falling… the clear ones!
You can purchase paper parasols to hang from ceilings, place on tables, etc in a variety of colors.
I used them for a bridal shower and purchased them from lunabazaar.com. At this shower I also spray painted watering cans and strung paper flowers from it so they seemed to be pouring out of the can. You can see the pictures here:

I missed some of the posts above mine (reading too fast) – I LOVE the watering can idea for your theme. it would be great with flowers, or even with tissue paper inside and balloons coming out if you can’t hang the umbrellas from the ceiling. It could also work as an option on a buffet table if the umbrellas are in another area of the room. I think you are going to have a great party!
I am planning a butterfly garden party for my daughter and we are using a new watering can to serve beverages out of!

I love the idea of the flower pom-poms, and these are simple and inexpensive to make and make such an impact. You could give seeds or plantable seed favors, to keep with the May Flowers theme. The watering can centerpiece above sounds adorable! Good luck with your shower planning!
When I thought of raindrops and flowers I thought of the recently posted wedding by amorology weddings. They had made some beautiful umbrellas with attached clear string with raindropped shapped gems.

i was going to suggest parasols, too. They would look wonderful, especially with the gem “rain.” Not sure if you use a Cricut, but the new Paisley cartridge has some great cuts for this theme–umbrellas, wellies, and lots of flowers.

Not sure if you’ve sent out invites but one thing that was done for me and I”ve done for friends is put a fun insert into the invitation envelope asking the guests to bring their favorite unwrapped book to help the mother start a library of books. Gather them as they come in the door and put them in a fun basket to give as a surprise for the mom.
You could aslo find a handful of books that go with your theme and place them around the house for decorations.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
