Princess Chic Birthday Party

Hi, Everyone!  Shannon asked me to guest blog for her today….so I thought I would show off a darling Princess Chic Birthday Party I recently worked on for a sweet little 3 year old in California.

INVITATION (PN)

The concept for the party was unique: create a “pink” princess party, but with some “rocker chic” details.  Our bubble gum pink and black color palette was born!  The first step was creating a custom invitation that would make the guests “ooh” and “ahh”!  WH Hostess came up with this darling, two-sided invitation – it had the birthday girl’s picture on one side, and polka dots and crystals on the other!  I created a “logo” that was used on the invitation and repeated throughout the party.  After all, it wouldn’t be a princess party without crowns and magic wands, right?!

The decor for the party was whimsical and fun, and the black accents added a modern edge to the traditional “princess” look.  Some of my favorites: welcome signs sticking out of plants at the front door, black urn centerpieces with custom “magic wand” centerpiece sticks, a custom circle banner (complete with Morgan’s crown logo), pink and black polka dot balloons, and…..wait for it……a series of four ribbon chandeliers that hung above the food table.  I love this whimsical, vertical element…..it added a touch of drama to the event!

Here are a few pictures to “wet your whistle”!  For more pictures and information about the activities and the very chic dessert table, head over to The Party Dress.

Everyday Decorations

Good Morning, Everyone!  I’m Kelly from The Party Dress and WH Hostess – and I am so pleased to be here as your guest hostess today!

We are in that funny time of year – some days it’s snowing and feels very much “winter” – and other days, it’s hitting 60 degrees, the sun is shining and my Spring fever is definitely blooming!  I start to crave fresh flowers, and colorful decorations – and I look for creative ways to make my house look festive (even if there is still snow on the ground!).

Today, I am going to show you a darling do-it-yourself project from The Purl Bee.  These colorful garlands are simple to make, easy to customize to any party theme/color palette, and are a fresh addition to any party!

Circle GarlandDarling, right?!  And here’s a thought…..instead of using felt circles, you could cut out ovals and make the garland look like colorful eggs for an upcoming Easter brunch!
